i feel oddly geommetrical
cylindrical
centrifugal
an attack of quadratics
made out of mathematics
it's practically automatic
i feel these equations in my bones.

how clever that they're in boxes
the panels of comics
drawn by Quesada
or the cycles of figures
black-suited dirgers
and a poison Black Mamba
better go tell your mama
you won't be back anymore.

down the rocky road to Dublin
and the cauldron is bubblin'
with a sticky green brew
see a dragon in the smoke
hear the poison toads croak
so slather on that medicated goo
'cause baby you know it's good for you
as you're walkin' down that long and winding road.

feel your bones crack like dry twigs in the sun
freeing you from the limits of the human skeleton
o, that this too, too solid flesh would melt
a tallow candle lit to show
the pathway that your soul will go
but you gotta play the hand you're dealt
to put a square on the eternal quilt
or else you're just another moaning ghost.

i feel perfectly symmetrical
celestial
contextual
the logic is erratic
i'm fantastically aquatic
gotta be diplomatic
'cause the ocean is my home.

spiderwebbing outwards, all my pirate DNA,
double helix ladder, gotta climb it all the way
until you're in the crow's nest-
see the Jolly Roger grin,
you're gonna have to knock 3 times before he lets you in
so come, me lads and lassies, and give it all your best-
gotta bring it to the table if you're gonna pass the test-
and keep to the map as you sail down the coast.

going 'round in circles, like the spirals 'round the Sun,
like the Planets in their orbits, like the Moon's lonely run-
up among the Stars, my friends, where the waves of Ether roll-
o, a sailor's life is the life for me, i feel it in my soul!
cradled in these steady timbers, we'll let our spirits mend,
ferry down the River Styx, make the journey once again,
for nothing ever ends, & back to the start we'll go!

met a mermaid renegade who tied my tongue in sailor's knots
met a gnome so far from home who hid my heart in cuckoo clocks
met leprechauns who sewed my mind
into the soles of tiny shoes
found a cache of ancient knowledge it took me centuries to lose
rode a unicorn to Shangri-La, it wasn't very hard to find
journeyed far by Moon and Star to lands that Time has left behind
with loving eyes, the morning skies have gazed on me & made me whole.

i feel mostly biological
phenomenal
astrological
i don't mean to be drastic
but i'm gonna make some magic
so let me be emphatic,
babies, this is how i roll.

(roll, roll, roll the bones)
  ((roll, roll, roll the bones))
     (((roll, roll, roll the bones)))
this is probably the most complex meter & rhyme scheme i've ever used. ever. i just made it up and ran with it. if this is a real, pre-existing form, i've certainly never heard of it! the syllable count gradually increases to almost double by the end of the poem, for one thing, while somehow keeping the rhythm intact... i don't know how the fuck i did this.

anyway, there are about a million references in here:
-math
-comic books
-irish folk music
-a song by Peter Paul & Mary
-a song by Traffic
-a song by the Beatles
-Shakespeare's Hamlet
-reincarnation
-poker
-Fern Gully: The Last Rainforest
-nautical history
-astronomy
-classical mythology
-Tibetan spirituality
-astrology
-divination
...and that's just direct references.

i mean, holy shit. :iconimhighplz:

thanks are due to three special ladies: one's down the corner, one's sitting on the dock of the bay, and one's a fugitive dressed in green.
 to them all. and to you! :dalove:

This is amazing. Especially the last verse.
