Cain and Abel

i will probably color this... at which time, this image will be moved to scraps. but for now, i like the black and white.

so the first time i (knowingly) encountered these two was while reading Swamp Thing: Love and Death, which my older brother recommended to me. it was an awesome book, and i loved these two immediately, although they only had a short cameo and i knew instinctively that they wouldn't be back again. since then i've picked up the old House of Mystery and House of Secrets titles. they're adorable, and even though they're not really chilling or shocking anymore, i can appreciate them for what they are. i wish i had found them years ago... and hey, they're entertaining. it is really these two characters that are so memorable. i can understand why they were picked up by Sandman. which i'd like to read more of, btw. you know what they say, the road to hell and all that. but anyway.

their appearances are obviously influenced by their appearance in Swamp Thing, especially Cain. speaking of; the spectacles were kind of a hassle. i knew that i had to give them a shadow... i pencilled that about a million times until it looked right. it may not look right to you, so let me know what you think, especially about that part. Abel i had to tweak a bunch of times before i was happy, but in the end i think i got him.

um, yeah.

EDIT: i have colored this, but it was a really simple coloring job- all i did was color their eyes and Cain's hair. i left the rest white, still deciding whether i want to leave it that way or not. i want to keep it simple. i do want to do more work with these two; i've been doodling Abel a lot. <whisper>he's my favorite; don't tell Cain.</whisper>
